"BE prepared" is the scout motto and Skoda has taken this advice to heart with the launch of the new Scout versions of the Roomster and Octavia. The Scout versions have just gone on sale and each is kitted out with strong armour, protective side panelling and a number of extra specifications added. The Roomster Scout, priced from 19,490, has the body armour, the extra-strong side panelling, bigger 16" alloy wheels, floor mats, smoked glass, maxi-dot digital dashboard display and a top-tinted windscreen.
The Roomster Scout comes with a 1.4-litre 85bhp petrol engine and a more powerful 1.6-litre 105bhp petrol version with the option of manual or automatic transmission. There are also two diesel engines in the line-up, a 1.4-litre and the more powerful 1.9-litre 105bhp TDI.
The Octavia Scout has extra features including a four-wheel drive system, sump guard, added ground clearance, 17" alloy wheels, newly designed Scout interior trim, rain-sensing wipers and a chrome exhaust.
Two versions are offered here, a two-litre diesel putting out 140bhp with six-speed gearbox priced at 35,910 and a two-litre petrol FSI with 150bhp output priced at 32,940.
Also new is a more luxurious high-spec Octavia L&K version.
Prices begin at 33,645.
