Thanks to a slew of upmarket burger places that have opened up in the last year, burgers have made the crossover from post-pub soakage to gourmet grub. The people behind the much-feted Orange Square on Baggot Street, Dublin 2, have now set up shop at 137 Rathmines Road. The decor is a deliberate mishmash of concrete floors and kitsch art; the music is equally eclectic but naturally the food is the main event. The buns are sourdough and baked in house, the beef is 100% Irish Hereford beef and all the veg are organic.
Highly recommended: the Zondi (with green Thai curry mayo, coriander and chilli) and the Emdeni (with flat mushroom and garlic butter) but they also do unadorned, veggie, fish and chicken varieties too.
