'Maniac' selling 'most expensive' pint on eBay
Una Mullally

FANCY a pint? The price of the black stuff has gone up somewhat in recent years, but nowhere more so than for one specific pint currently being auctioned on Ebay for $1,500,000 (Euro1,110,179.14).

The price of 'The World's Most Expensive Pint of Guinness' includes a flight on an executive jet to Ireland, where the winning bidder will enjoy "three wonderful days of 'craic agus ceoil' in true Irish style. . . journey through the lush green landscape of the Emerald Isle and enjoy a very, very special Irish meal with more craic agus ceoil than you can shake a leprechaun's stick at". This jaunt would be followed by a ceremony where the buyer is presented with the world's most expensive pint in the presence of a representative from the Guinness Book of Records. The empty glass will then be presented in a special crystal box.

The online seller, Mark McCabe, told the Sunday Tribune he had "an office and team ready to take care of everything if need be". McCabe is better known as the DJ behind 'Maniac 2000', the fourth best-selling single in Irish chart history. He says he is looking for "serious bidders only". A spokeswoman for Diageo, Guinness' parentcompany, said:

"It's not something Guinness or Diageo are involved with? It's something we'll have to look into if someone is using the Guinness product like that."
