A MAN appeared in court yesterday charged with the murder of a father of two in Blanchardstown, west Dublin, last month.
Bryan Ryan, 23, originally from Sheepmoor Crescent, was charged with the murder of Ian Tobin on 27 May.
Detective Sergeant Liam Kelly from Blanchardstown garda station told Dublin district court that he arrested Ryan at an address at South Circular Road at 7.05pm last Friday.
He was taken to Blanchardstown station and formally charged with the murder of 25-year-old Ian Tobin. He made no reply to the charge.
Ryan, a father of an 18month-old child, did not speak in court and was remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill court on 5 July. He was granted free legal aid.
Judge Patrick Clyne ordered that Ryan should receive any medical attention he might require while he is on remand. Ryan, who is unemployed, wore a long Umbro jacket, jeans and runners.
Ian Tobin was at a party in a neighbour's house at Fortlawn Park at about 5.30am on 27 May. He was standing in the hallway when a shotgun was fired into the house through a window next to the front door. He was hit in the neck and died in hospital two days later. Tobin had no convictions for criminal activity.
Garda� from Blanchardstown immediately launched a murder inquiry which culminated in Bryan Ryan's arrest two days ago.
