The daughter of Danhill unleashed her challenge on the near side to head the long-time leader Speciosa inside the final furlong and maintained that advantage for a two length win over her rival. O'Brien's first reaction was to say "She's obviously a very good filly and that was great for Kieren. She's very strong and the plan is to come back here for the Oaks."

The trainer, who was registering his first success in the Pretty Polly Stakes, also had news of George Washington who has come out of his Royal Ascot exertions in the Queen Anne Stakes well and will bid to return to winning ways in next Saturday's Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.

O'Brien commented "He's run in soft ground before, although it's obviously not ideal for him. He's a fouryear-old now and is going to have to race and we have been very happy with him since Royal Ascot."

Tommy Stack introduced a useful-looking prospect in the Netjets 2-Y-O Maiden in the form of the Wayne Lordan-ridden newcomer Myboycharlie who opened his racecourse account in convincing fashion by three lengths.

The trainer's son and assistant Fozzy remarked "He's a nice horse but wants goodish ground. Wayne said he was hating it out there and was hanging the whole way.

He might go for either the Anglesey Stakes or the Tyros Stakes and hopefully might make up into a National Stakes horse."

Trainer Sheena Collins sent out 10/1 shot Redstone Dancer to win the Jordan Town & Country Estate Agents EBF Summer Fillies Handicap for the second year running. Pat Shanahan's mount scored by one and threequarter lengths and a Stewards' enquiry failed to alter the result.

Redstone Dancer carries the purple and white colours of Kevin Lynch and Collins said "I'm delighted for Kevin and Gill because this is the first real horse they have had.

She peaks at this time of year and it was the same last year.

She's in foal to Refuse To Bend and is very laid-back, taking everything in her stride."

Trainer Florence Mills, who is based near Athlone, saddled her first Curragh winner when Kingsdale Orion took the honours in the Dr Lewinn's Private Formula Handicap by half a length. Mills, who spent eight years in the Far East, has been back in Ireland for six or seven years and was full of praise for the winning rider Martin Lane, saying "He's very good value for his 7lb claim."

She said of her 16/1 winner Kingsdale Orion "He's the first decent horse I've had since I came back and is a lovely colt. He's just had bad luck all season and should have won before."
