THE national minimum wage will increase to Euro8.65 an hour from today, the newly appointed Minister for Labour Affairs, Billy Kelleher, has announced.
This is the second increase in the statutory minimum wage this year;
it was increased to Euro8.30 an hour last January. At Euro1,403 a month Ireland's national minimum wage is bettered in the EU only by Luxembourg, which pays Euro1,570 a month while Bulgaria, takes up the rear at Euro92 a month.
