Shopping combined with altruism can only be a wonderful thing and Art Dublin, which launches next week in BT2, Grafton Street, allows you to do just that. Meike Vanmechelen (pictured) is one of 60 Irish artists who have joined forces with BT2 and Focus Ireland for the charity exhibition running from the 16-30 July.
For two weeks, you'll be able to shop for one-off works of art along with your handbags and gladrags as dozens of paintings will be displayed in the Grafton Street store beside designer sunglasses and couture jeans.
"It's nice to be able to give back, especially through what I love doing, " says Meike. "I think it's a good idea because art is perceived as being a little bit elitist and this is a young store. It will encourage young people to appreciate art as well."
The theme for this year's exhibition is 'Home'. Each painting costs 350 and all the proceeds go towards Focus Ireland's Extension and Outreach Centre in Dublin, giving support and facilities to young homeless people aged 16 to 25. Alternatively, pick up a postcard collection of six prints for 12 from BT2 stores on Grafton Street, Dundrum and Blanchardstown.
