Double amputee Oscar Pistorius is preparing to face Olympic and world 400-metres champion Jeremy Wariner at the Norwich Union Grand Prix in Sheffield as the sport's governing body examines whether he is receiving an unfair advantage.
The 20-year-old South African, who is aiming to compete in the Beijing Olympics next year, competed against able-bodied athletes at the Rome Golden League meeting Friday night and will do so today at Don Valley. Now the International Association of Athletics Federations are evaluating whether he is receiving mechanical assistance.
Pistorius is nicknamed the 'Blade Runner' because of the carbon cheetah blades he uses on both legs below the knees.
