Sachin Tendulkar made England Lions pay for the impudence of grabbing three early wickets, as he predictably took control on the second afternoon in Chelmsford.
The little master targeted Graham Onions and then Adil Rashid, racing to the verge of a 63rd "rst-class hundred in an India total of 173 for four in reply to the Lions' 413 for eight declared. In the process, Tendulkar (99no) exhibited some typically sumptuous shots among his 13 fours and one six from 134 balls. India's good health was a far cry from their troubled start . . . during which Onions struck twice in his "rst over with the new ball. There was sure to be an extra resonance to anything England's aspiring test bowlers could achieve thanks to the recurrence of Stephen Harmison's hernia injury.
