Strong activity in residential market before summer lull

PROVING that when it comes to the state of the property market, there are are still statistics to confound the gloomiest predictions.

Last week, agent Felicity Fox held her last auction of the season, a fine five-bed Victorian semi at No 7 Brendan Road, Donnybrook with an AMV 2.75m.

It sold on the day for 3.5m.

Signs elsewhere in last week's results show that some properties that have been lingering on agents' books since last autumn are starting to shift.

A four-bed semi . . .

Castleville, Sandymount Green, Dublin 4 . . . which failed to go under the hammer last October sold under private treaty through Sherry FitzGerald for the original asking price of 2.25m.
