A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE

Today's children are far more likely to be read a Dora the Explorer adventure at bedtime than they are anything as quaint as Jack and the Beanstalk, but a new exhibition of paintings by Dublin artist Jonathan Barry brings the old favourites back into gloriously illustrated life.

The artist specialises in famous scenes from literature and this year's includes new scenes from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (pictured), Dickens favourites Great Expectation and A Christmas Carol as well as samples from books he illustrated, such as Cinderella and Rapunzel.

It's guaranteed to make you nostalgic for a time when kids' stories did not come with an accompanying DVD, lunchbox, doll or clothing range.

Running at The Dublin Writer's Museum, Parnell Square, until 30 September. MondaySaturday 10am-6pm; Sunday 11am-5pm.

8722077.
