If you're tired of full-on festivals, stadium shenanigans and spending half your salary on a gig, it could be time to extend your musical horizons and take a chance on the less familiar. Neck, Pegbox and Scroll is a concert of new solo cello and double-bass music taking place at 6pm on Sunday 29 July in the New Theatre, 43 Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2 (www. thenewtheatre. com). It's presented by the Young Composers' Collective, a not-forprofit organisation of 25 young composers living or linked to Ireland, most of whom have had their music performed by top performing groups, including Concorde and members of the Crash Ensemble. Double bassist Daniel Bodwell and cellist Kate Ellis will be performing and tickets cost 10.
