IRELAND'S first ever Japanese performance car and motorsport show, JapFest, will take place in Mondello Park on Sunday 9 September. The show will be a joint promotion between Mondello Park and Xtreme Promotions, who organise modified-car shows.
As well as the best of Japanese motorsport, JapFest will feature Ireland's top car tuners competing for supremacy in the Mondello Park Drag Sprint and over a full lap in the first ever Mondello Parkorganised 'Time Attack'.
Aside from these two competitions, also on the bill is a challenge event for Ireland's top 16 drift competitors. A car is said to be drifting when the rear slip angle is greater than the front slip angle and the front wheels are pointing in the opposite direction to the turn (eg car is turning left, wheels are pointed right), with the driver controlling these factors.
There will be show cars, motor clubs and trade stands in the paddock. All of the Japanese specialist car clubs are expected to display their models, attracted by their first opportunity to take their cars on track as part of an Irish car show.
The limited slots on the entry list for the track competitions and road car sessions are already starting to fill up.
Jap-Fest 2007 has its own page the Mondello Park web site where all of the latest news and information on the show is available.
