PARISIENNEN athalie Colin-Roblique is the creative director of Swarovski jewellery. We asked her about her inspirations for the new season.
What are the main trends in jewellery right now?
"Personalisation is a huge trend, the idea being that the jewellery looks as if you have made it yourself. Large cuffs have also definitely made a comeback. I love big jewellery like chunky necklaces and huge rings.
What fashion designers do you admire?
I admire people who have a vision and who pursue their dreams and fight for that vision.
I knew one guy who was working as a trainee, but at nights he worked with feathers, creating accessories. . . He really had a passion for them and he worked hard . . . and he has since become famous for his work.
Have any celebrities recently worn the brand?
Actually at the Oscars many celebrities were wearing Swarovski, including Penelope Cruz, and at Cannes the young Korean actress who won the Best Actress award wore our jewellery. It is great to see iconic, talented women wearing the brand.
What inspired the latest collection?
The collection is called 'Soul of Time' and it has a sort of historic, epic theme. The collection is based around a nomadic princess who carries her treasures around with her on her travels.
Do you have a favourite piece in the new collection?
It's hard to pick a favourite piece, but I think it would be the 'Divine' theme. I really had to fight for this piece. The product designers thought I was crazy when I said, 'I want to embroider crystal.' But it was worth it because during Fashion Week in Paris it got a really good reaction from the press. I think the smoky colour gives it a mysterious quality.
