Rock - Please release me

KT Tunstall
Drastic Fantastic
End of August

Fleetwood Mac-style follow-up to Eye To The Telescope . . . an album whose success Tunstall often seemed unusually embarassed about.

Foo Fighters Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace September Sixth album from hard rock's enduring, and most unlikely, success story. That Nirvana covers album will have to wait another year so.

PJ Harvey
White Chalk
September

Polly Jean's eighth album sees her again teaming up with John Parish and Flood. Guitars are eschewed for a dreamy, experimental, pianowritten moodscape.

One good reason to look forward to winter.

Paddy Casey
Addicted to Company
September

Can one of Ireland's bestsellers replicate that success overseas?

He may not need to given his popularity here. Has been out of the picture long enough to make this a "much anticipated" followup to Living.

Kanye West
Graduation
September

In a couple of short years, West has gone from being feted as a visionary to being dubbed an arrogant twat.

That's what you get for believing your own press . . . and using too many samples.

James Blunt
All The Lost Souls
September

The cover of the Little General's sophomore album is a montage of said singer-songwriter's face. Yes, more than 1,000 images of James for your delectation. If ever an album cover was a statement of intent. . .

Coldplay
TBA

Currently touring the churches of southern Spain with a couple of six strings and a laptop, Chris Martin and his charges are working with Brian Eno on the follow-up to 2005's X&Y. Expect a Hispanic moper, if that's possible.

We can't wait but will probably have to given the boys' usual prerelease nerves.

Franz Ferdinand
TBA

The Glasgow boys have been quiet since the quickfire release of two albums in 2004 and 2005 but they are currently writing their third album and are in fact playing a mini Scottish tour to air some of the material. If you were a real fan you would go and check it out. . .

U2
TBA

Can it really be three years since How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb? Last we heard they were in Fez, Morocco, with Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois as well as hinting at a project with Rick Rubin. It will all probably happen very quickly. Songs such as 'Mercy' and 'North Star' that were cut from the Bomb sessions may appear.

Babyshambles Shotter's Nation October Produced by Stephen Street and featuring Scottish folkie Bert Jansch it's about time Pete Doherty generated some revenue to feed his habit. Let's hope this is worth it because I can't find any melody with these boys.

Roisin Murphy
Overpowered

October The criminally overlooked former Moloko frontwoman is set to release a lounge disco gem if the singles are anything to go by. A contender for next year's Choice Music Prize?

Radiohead
TBA

When does hiatus become retirement? The saga that is Hail To The Thief's follow-up continues to run, with band sources recently confirming there would be no new Radiohead release this year . . .again.

Hard Fi
Suburban Knights
September

The Staines massive make a wry cultural statement on their sophomore release, with the words 'No Cover Art' emblazoned on the cover. That's art, innit?
