A modern classic in Glasnevin
Valerie Shanley

THE classic period redbrick in a mature residential location remains one of the most sought-after city homes.

This three-bed semi in Glasnevin is a good example as it retains its authentic 1915 hallmarks yet with just the right touches of modernity, it's sure to attract all manner of home buyers.

High ceilings combined with decorative cornicing and original fireplaces define the architecture of the period and these features give great character.

In keeping with house design of the early 20th century, there is also a generously sized rear garden, delightfully sheltered and private with mature trees, shrubs and tall hedging.

Another plus in No 14's favour is the rear vehicular access allowing for offstreet parking . . . although the address is so convenient to the city, Dublin airport, Dublin City University and a host of local amenities that running a car needn't be a priority.

Entrance is through the front porch and then through a set of glazed double doors into the high-ceilinged hallway. Leading off is the formal living room, defined by the original cast-iron fireplace, decorative plaster coving and wide-plank sanded floorboards.

Double folding doors open to the similarly styled dining room which in turn opens to the large, L-shaped fitted kitchen.

French doors open directly from the kitchen to the garden. Period features continue upstairs, with the high-ceilinged landing also filled with natural light courtesy of the tall sash window.

The main bathroom is larger than average, with both a bath and power shower.

Three double bedrooms, all retaining their original period iron fireplaces complete the accommodation.
