THIS afternoon's card at Leopardstown, featuring the Group 3 Ballyroan Stakes and the Desmond Stakes, has been boosted by the addition of the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Hurry Harriet Stakes. The listed event was originally due to be run at Gowran Park last Wednesday, but the meeting was cancelled due to a waterlogged course.
Timarwa, from the John Oxx stable, can reap the benefit of this timely rescheduling by picking up valuable black type for her connections. A daughter of that good racemare Timarida, Timarwa ran with credit at Group 1 level in the Pretty Polly Stakes and the Irish Oaks and this race should be well within her capabilities. The Aidan O'Brientrained Uimhir A Haon may rank as the danger.
Fracas, from the David Wachman yard, has been in fine form and gets the vote to maintain that run of success by completing his hat-trick in the Ballyroan Stakes. Wayne Lordan's mount gained a hardearned win over Red Rock Canyon in the Meld Stakes at this venue last time and should be suited by the return to this trip. Prince Erik, who finished sixth in the Irish Derby, can chase him home.
Kevin Prendergast's good servant Haatef is sure to take all the beating in the Desmond Stakes. He bounced back from a below par run in the English 2,000 Guineas to win his next two starts at Naas and Fairyhouse and holds a sizable advantage over his rivals on official ratings.
Today also marks the final day of the Tramore Festival where the best bet may be Asfahrisucan in the Tramore Amusement Park (Mares) Flat Race. The four-year-old can be regarded as a winner without a penalty, having been disqualified from first place in a Tipperary bumper. Life For Rent, who was awarded the race, went on to frank the form by winning at Galway.
