Music is no longer being listened to just on iPods and stereos. Phones are fast eating into the digital music player market with evenApple bringing out multimedia phones
NOKIA 5300 XPRESSMUSIC SLIDER PHONE (/149 from Meteor pay as you go or /29 on bill pay)
Small but fully featured, this phone is a phone that wants to come along clubbing with you or even hillwalking. Very tough looking and tough wearing. This is definitely built to be a music phone with specially designed keys and menus to allow you to play music. The software is quite good and hassle free.
Storage isn't fantastic but more storage can be added. Very good value phone which is also triband and comes with the now standard camera too. Well worth a look.
SONY ERICSSON W8801 (/279 on O2 price plans)
The thinnest of the SE range, this music phone is lightweight and has a very easy to use and dare we say it, almost cute user interface. Coming with 1GB of storage space, it should be enough for most journeys.
The software isn't overly fantastic if you are used to iTunes but it is still good enough to transfer and catalogue music. All the other functions of the phone such as photos and video are up to the usual high standards expected from Sony Ericsson. If you have already used Sony Ericsson phones then this is worth upgrading for the music features.
MOTOROLA ROKR Z6 (Available soon from all phone newtorks)
A new classier design, with a sleek metallic finish, Motorola finally challenged their designers to make something that had something more than just being thin. This slider phone has plenty of storage in such a small phone.
What lets this phone down, like so many other phones, is the software and player . . . though the menu system is quite good. The wireless headphones option with this phone is a real treat and makes a good phone into a great phone. It certainly beats the cheapfeeling headphones that accompany most other phones. Recommended.
