RECYCLING firm Bailey Waste has been sold to Greenstar, NTR's waste management division. Neither company was prepared to comment on the terms of the deal, but in a letter sent last week, Bailey Waste managing director Andrew Bailey informed customers that the company had merged with Greenstar with effect from 1 August.
Bailey Waste has been in business since 1940 and, until disposal, remained in the hands of the Bailey family, with Andrew and Cedric Bailey each holding 50% of the firm. The company had been planning a sale for several months, having changed its articles of association in April to state that it intended to dispose of its property and assets. The company's site at Rosemount Business Park in Dublin was sold in July to Andrew and Nicholas Bailey and an agreement was then reached to lease premises back for 69,000 per annum for a four and a half year period.
The company has proved extremely profitable for the Bailey family, reporting profits of 947,000 on the back of turnover of 7.3m in the year ending April to 2006. The firm had accumulated profits of 8m during the same period.
