THE MARKET - Autumn heralds pick-up in house sales

SLOW but steady is how estate agents are describing the current market, with some sales coming in for houses that have been languishing over the summer months.

The expected rush by vendors to put their houses on the market has been slow too, but it's still early days.

This week it was the wellpriced, well-located houses in good condition that achieved top sales. In Clontarf, Douglas Newman Good sold No 138 Castle Avenue . . . a four-bed detached house on a 0.25 acre site . . . for around 3.2m.

Elsewhere in Clontarf Lisney sold a four-bed detached house with planning for a detached bungalow, at No 62 Blackheath Park, for 1.8m.
