The kit will give the 1.6litre twin-scroll turbo engine in the Mini Cooper S a power increase to 192bhp compared to the standard unit's 175bhp output. Maximum torque is extended from 240Nm to 250Nm and is available between 1,750rpm and 5,000rpm.

An overboost facility is available for faster power and the works kit means drivers will feel the full force of 270Nm under hard acceleration. The increased power results in a 0-100km/h sprint in 6.8 seconds and top speed of 240km/h. External John Cooper Works branding on the front grille and tailgate will show the tweaking carried out under the skin.

The tuned cars will get a sports exhaust system, air filter and a revised enginemanagement system . . . all designed to optimise power efficiency and make the engine more freerevving for rapid acceleration. Visual appeal of the Cooper S can be further boosted with features such as an aerodynamic body kit, 18in light alloy wheels in various finishes and numerous carbon-fibre trim and panel units.

The tuning upgrade is now available at Mini dealerships.
