I drive. . . I don't actually . . . it's very sad . . . I've just never got around to learning. Good thing is all my friends have cars so I'm never stuck for lifts If I had time to myself. . . I would read novels and catch up on the last series of Lost and The OC You wouldn't know it but I am very good at. . . maths. I got down to the final cut for the Irish Maths Olympics team, and my first choice for college had I stayed in Ireland was English and Maths in Trinity but I don't like admitting any of this . . . so ssh!
You may not know it but I am very bad at. . . big words. People in Cambridge always slag me because my knowledge of big long words is fairly rubbish. You'll never find any five-syllable words in my books
A book that changed me. . .Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert is the most beautiful book I've ever read
Movie Heaven. . . Disney. It may be 'for kids' but I am a die-hard Disney fan. The colours, the humour, the music . . . it's amazing. The Lion King (below) is by far my favourite with Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid coming in a close second and third
When I was a child I wanted to be. . . a poet, an iceskater, a pianist, an actuary, a song-writer, a barrister. . .the list is endless. Needless to say I still haven't made up my mind so I'm not ruling any of these out just yet
All my money goes on. . . travelling. You're not allowed to get a job during term time while studying in Cambridge so it's brilliant having the book money to be able to go on holidays. This year I've managed five weeks interrailing around eastern Europe and a week in Spain. With a trip to San Francisco and the rugby world cup still left to go, I reckon I'm going to be pretty broke
At night I dream of. . . crazy stuff . . . seriously, I have the strangest dreams ever. My friends and I always try to analyse them in the morning but it never works My biggest regret. . . everything happens for a reason, so there's nothing really I would change
If I wasn't me I'd like to be. . . Edith Bowman, meeting all the stars, being so close to the music industry, having a Scottish accent . . . I'd definitely be content
It's not fashionable but I like. . . Earl Grey tea and going to church, writing and receiving letters
The soundtrack to my life. . . 'I'll See You Soon' by Coldplay is my favourite song of all time The best invention ever. . . low cost flights, microwave popcorn, iPods, Facebook and Sky Plus!
'Somewhere in Between' by Ruth Gilligan is published by Hodder Headline Ireland
