WHERE DOES THE KINGDOM COME? - YOUR VIEWS ON LAST WEEK'S LIAM HAYES COLUMN

We would like to thank the hundreds of people who wrote to us via letter and email to comment on Liam Hayes's article last Sunday. Due to the sheer volume and the fact that several correspondents were making the same or similar points, we have edited parts of letters and emails to avoid repetition.

Dear Liam, Further to my letter of this morning may I say. . . you poor eejit. Tip for you. . .predict Kerry wins and you will look like a genius instead of a Carlow ass.

Gary Williams Dear Ewan and Kieran, I write to you as an admirer of your writing skill and knowledge of the game I love. I just wanted to say that it's a shame that your articles on today's SFC semi-"nal had the misfortune of appearing on the same pages as that of the "football analyst" Liam Hayes. I felt that the article was an absolute disgrace from beginning to end and an insult to this very good Kerry team who will appear in their fourth All Ireland-in-a-row. I found the comments aimed at Seamus Moynihan and Colm Cooper to be particularly off the mark, in fact just plainly not on the radar. And as regards the prediction of the result itself, well the 18 or so Kerry men (who stood up and were counted gave the perfect riposte to that.

Patrick McKenna Well done . . . another "ne piece of football analysis in Sunday's Tribune.

So good, it was read to the Kerry players at half time. Remember the All Ireland is in three weeks' time. I think Cork by about 20 points and a litany of Kerry Football insults should do it.

Gearoid Linnane Nice one Liam. Hope it didn't take all night last night to wipe all that egg off your face. I suggest you have a chat with your former teammate Colm O'Rourke who appreciates the game as it should be played and calls it correctly more often than any other analyst. Now let's look forward to the Cork game. Here in Kerry we have no problem with Cork, they are just another football team the same as Dublin or anyone else. And by the way Liam, we WILL beat Cork, by how much who's to say.

Anna Maria Kennelly, Your article in the paper on Sunday was very disrespectful towards Kerry's current stars and squad players. Coming from a former GAA star who writes with a respectable paper, it was very disappointing. At no point in the article did you analyse the Dublin teams strengths and, dare I say, weaknesses. You simply decided to take the moral high ground and state you would not join the journalist bandwagon of praising Kerry teams but instead you lined out for the far greater band wagon of journalists you praise Dublin just to keep the Hill happy.

Donal Ashe I was wondering . . . were just taking the p*ss or were you serious? Kerry have fallen all the way into a fourth All Ireland in a row!

I'm just stunned that a man that played in several All-Irelands doesn't think that Seamus Moynihan was one of the greatest footballers ever, not to mind his own generation.

Now please, please Liam tell me it was one big wind up, and last week as well. If not I would just assume you're ok with irresponsible journalism. Because that really was "Puke Journalism". Get a grip man, have a think before you get stuck into next week's article.

Kevin Mulcahy Just saw Hayes's article on the state of Kerry football. Can you give him some other subject to write about other than Gaelic football or else get rid of him! Up Limerick!

Geoff Hourigan, If Mr Hayes is ever unavailable to write about Gaelic football in your newspaper, you could use my cousin Chloe. (She is six months old and lives in Australia) Frank Hussey From the man who predicted Laois would win the All Ireland it was an inherently bitter and nasty piece of opinion which staggered most who read it. Hayes predicted Mayo would win last year's All Ireland and ended up with egg on his face . . . and he obviously has not learned his lesson.

Trevor O'Sullivan "Who's crying now, baby?"

Yours etc, Liam Walsh I expect you are getting quite a lot of hate mail from Kerry people this week. I assure that is not what this is.

I have no issue with you tipping Dublin to win, or even wanting Dublin to win. But surely you can have a better informed basis for that prediction. Your article was utter nonsense. Please have a little more balance in your articles and don't let your ego dictate what you write.

Eanna de Buis I read Liam's article with interest on Sunday and his subsequent comments after Kerry's victory. I am surprised that such a brilliant footballer could hold such views.

It was sensationalist journalism with no arguments put forward to support any of the personal views held. You have a right to write what you want, but I also have a right to never buy the Sunday Tribune again.

Peter Nealon The worst part of your rant the other day is that you made such a ridiculous attempt to hide your hatred and bile behind the mask of being an admirer of Kerry with a lazy cliche of being in awe of Kerry, etc.

You should try and "nd out about people before you question their worth. Colm Cooper in his personal life has been through more than most people of his young age. He carries the hopes of the county with the most unforgiving supporters in his spare time, no big deal. You could at least be man enough next week to admit that you went overboard with Colm Cooper. Man or mouse?

John Kirby Liam Hayes is entitled to his own opinion and I respect that, but surely he couldn't be so wide off the mark than he was with his statements he made. Even if it is someone's opinion I couldn't believe he could have been so far from the truth. Is Liam in cloud cuckoo land?

I'm more disappointed with the Sunday Tribune for printing this
