We say : A chartered accountant, O'Donnell has been active in Fine Gael in Limerick East for many years and follows his uncle, Tom O'Donnell, into Dail Eireann. His constituency has a long line of TDs who sat at the cabinet table and O'Donnell would be a good bet for a ministerial appointment should Fine Gael return to government. He's been a prominent speaker on disability issues and the failure of the planning system to provide proper facilities in new housing developments. But expect to hear O'Donnell score points off his FF counterparts over Aer Lingus's withdrawal from Shannon airport.
He says: "I was elected to represent the people of Limerick East and that's my primary objective. Like other politicians I have ambitions to go further and I am convinced that when the next general election comes Fine Gael will be in government".
