We say : O'Brien has worked in the pension business for the last 13 years. While his immediate family was Fianna Fail leaning, he took the initiative in joining the party at the start of the peace process over a decade ago. He won a local council seat in 2004 and used that experience to ensure a Dail victory last May. A keen soccer fan, O'Brien is due to get married next year, and his political future may be equally mapped out. The 33-year-old is a lot younger than most other FF TDs in the north of the capital, so he should be positioned for ministerial promotion in the next few years.
He says: "I know from watching that generally there's not much action in the Dail chamber, but like a lot of other new TDs, I am looking forward to getting stuck in. I'm hoping to be politically active in five years' time."
