We say : The lack of a job in Enda Kenny's new frontbench should not lessen Creighton's public profile, although several new Fine Gael TDs have moved ahead of her in the internal pecking order. As a backbencher, she will still have a plethora of opportunities to carve out a niche as a national politician, most likely on European and legal matters.
But she will have to avoid the temptation to become a media pundit.
A TCD law graduate, she joined Fine Gael because she felt the party suited her own centreright outlook based on a "conservative economic stance and a family values perception".
She says: "Naturally, I'm reasonably disappointed not to be on the frontbench, but I'm philosophical about it.
"I now have to work hard for the next two years so when the frontbench is reviewed, the position is reversed then."
