HOLLYWOOD star George Clooney has been injured in a motorcycle crash in New Jersey, across the Hudson river from New York City.

Clooney and his passenger were hurt when his motorcycle collided with a car on a narrow road. The Ocean's 13 star suffered a broken rib and scrapes, while his passenger, Sarah Larson, broke her foot.

They were treated in hospital and later released, Clooney's spokesman said. "He's doing fine. He has a broken rib, it's very painful and it'll take a long time to heal, " he added.

Iran warns would-be invaders

IRAN'S President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has issued a tough warning to any country considering an attack on Iran. He said Iran's forces were just for defence, but that anybody who attacked would experience nothing but regret.

He urged those he called the occupiers in the region . . . an apparent reference to the US and its allies in Iraq . . . to admit defeat and withdraw their troops.

Britney charged with hit-and-run

BRITNEY Spears has been charged with hit-and-run and driving without a valid licence.

She is accused of hitting a parked car and driving away on 6 August, a spokesman for the city's attorney's office said. The 25-year-old could face six months in jail and a fine of $1,000 if convicted.

Singer Church gives birth to baby girl

SINGER and TV presenter Charlotte Church has given birth to a girl at her home in south Wales. It is believed the baby weighed just over 6lb and Church's rugby player boyfriend Gavin Henson was at her side.
