DEVELOPERRay Grehan's Glenkerrin group has announced plans for the development of a number of residential and commercial sites in London including a 4.2-acre site in Ealing Broadway. The west London construction project is set to become the largest residential development in that part of the city with 700 units and 250,000sq ft of retail space planned. Work is already underway at The Forge site in London's Docklands. Glenkerrin is developing around 200 residential units, the first phase of which will be launched in autumn, and 10,000sq ft of retail space. The group is expected to lodge a planning application for a 400-unit apartment project on an adjoining site at Westferry Road.
Expansion plans for the St Gregory Hotel, which was Glenkerrin's first building project in the UK, will see the hotel increase in size from 200 to 271 bedrooms, complete with new 200-seater restaurant and enhanced street-level presence, close to the heart of London's financial district in Shoreditch. As part of the expansion plan, the hotel will be rebranded Crowne Plaza London Shoreditch Hotel.
Grehan is confident that with demand currently outstripping supply in the UK property market, the development projects for London have been strategically timed. "The London property market is booming and our plans reflect the huge confidence we have in this market, for both residential and commercial developments."
