LEADING Irish drummer Conor Guilfoyle has been mining the Cuban seam since long before the BVSC phenomenon and this debut release from his latest band, which includes as many Cubans as it does Irish, confirms his status as one of the leading Cubanistas on this side of the Atlantic. Son is the pure drop of Cuban music, with plenty for the heart as well as the hips, and Guilfoyle's multinational band play it with authentic conviction, combining technique and passion in equal measure.
