Rovers and out for Sunderland
Sean Kelly

IT'S not getting any easier for Roy Keane as his Sunderland side fell 2-1 to an accomplished Blackburn at the Stadium of Light. After a mediocre first half, the game was effectively settled in the minutes immediately after half-time. Roque Santa Cruz was given too much space by the Sunderland defence and though his shot was blocked, David Bentley was on hand to finish.

Moments later, Santa Cruz did score as Brett Emerton took advantage of Danny Higginbotham's underhit backpass to set up the Paraguay striker for an easy finish.

There was nothing left for Keane to do but throw on all his strikers in Daryl Murphy, David Connolly and Roy O'Donovan but all Sunderland could muster was a late Grant Leadbitter strike.

In the basement clash, Bolton came from behind at Derby to salvage what could be a valuable point. Kenny Miller opened the scoring before Nicolas Anelka's deflected strike made it 1-1.
