EARLS BOOTS LEINSTER PAST MUNSTER YOUTHS

Leinster Youths secured second place in the interprovincial series and a home semi final against Munster . . . which will take place after Christmas . . . after beating the southerners 19-6 in Donnybrook yesterday.

The Blues opened the scoring after three minutes with a penalty from Niall Earls. The Wicklow outhalf added a second penalty after 25 minutes and Leinster went into the interval leading 6-0.

Munster got on the scoresheet five minutes after the interval with a penalty from Adrian Doyle and in the next four minutes traded a penalty apiece with Earls to leave the score at 9-6. But then the hosts pulled away with a Ciaran Dooley try after some excellent work by Gavin Kennedy in the loose after 51 minutes The consistent Earls added the conversion and a 65th-minute penalty to end Leinster's campaign on an impressive note.
