TONGA DELIGHTED WITH WORLD CUP 'MILESTONE'

Tonga coach Quddus Fielea has hailed his team's outstanding World Cup campaign as a "milestone" achievement in the island's rugby history. Victories over Samoa and the United States, plus a towering display in pushing Pool A winners South Africa to the limit, meant Tonga's World Cup was already one to savour, despite Friday's 36-20 loss to England.

"I'm very satisfied with what has been achieved, " said Fielea.

"One of our goals was the quarter-final, but I want to thank the boys for doing such a wonderful job for our nation.

"It is a very big step forward for Tongan rugby. What we have achieved is a milestone for us, and our supporters are over the moon with what has happened."

Skipper Nili Latu added: "Most of our team will be back for 2011. We are going to take a lot of positive things from this tournament."
