The man (22) was alone in the four-metre boat with no navigation or radio equipment. The boat was stolen a month ago in Brittany and was first spotted by a Spanish fishing vessel 230km off the Kerry coast on Thursday.

A spokesman for the naval service said the lone sailor was in good condition.
