PUTTING ON THE RITZ
THE backlash against boutique hotels is surely on the horizon and if anything kickstarts it, it will be the ultra-deluxe new Ritz-Carlton, Powerscourt. Two championship golf courses, a 30,000sq ft ESPA spa, a Louise Kennedy boutique and a Gordon Ramsay restaurant set it apart as something special, with the gardens, terraces, fountains and waterfalls of the Powerscourt Estate providing a luscious backdrop. There are special introductory rates of 255 per night, but if you fancy putting on the Ritz, go for the 'Enliven the Senses' package for two people for two nights with breakfast each morning. It also includes a dinner in the Gordon Ramsey restaurant and a choice of a round of golf or spa treatment. Prices start from 955.
