IRELAND may not have won any awards for its performance on the pitch at the rugby in France, however rugby pundit and George Hook's sparring partner Brent Pope was in London last month to pick up two gongs at the International Property Awards as part of his day job as marketing manager for Platinum Developments.
Platinum are a 100% Irishowned property developer in Bulgaria and won awards for 'Best Development in Bulgaria' for their flagship project Sunset Resort and 'Best Property Marketing in Bulgaria'. The company was set up by Neil O'Reilly and Aaron Tracey and is the largest Irish-owned property developer in Bulgaria and has 14 ongoing projects with planned future developments in excess of 1.5bn.
The Sunset Resort project on the Black Sea opened in the Summer of 2007, and a second phase is planned while the five-star development is currently the largest development ever undertaken in Bulgaria.
The resort was designed by Nikolai Damov, a well known Bulgarian architect.
When fully completed the resort will comprise of five main buildings and six boulevard villas with a total of 800 individual units varying from studios to presidential suites and prices start from 110,000. Phase II is due for completion in 2008.
In July, Port Bourgas Dockyards announced plans to construct a new commercial port that will cover 30,000sq m and will be 11.5m deep. The project is expected to cost about 12m, with be part financed by The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and is due for completion in 2010.
Platinum Developments is the only Irish company in Bulgaria to be awarded a 'First Class Investment Certificate' by Bulgarian authorities and has plans over the next three years to build about 10,000 units, including residential, commercial, leisure facilities, hotels and golf courses in Sofia, along the Black Sea Coast and Bansko.
