IMAGE PUBLICATIONS, best known for Image magazine, have said that it is in the market for further acquisitions after it purchased Garden Heaven, a gardening magazine edited by TV gardener Dermot O'Neill, for an undisclosed amount.
"We're always on the look out. This is our first acquisition but there's always room for more, " said Image Publications managing director Richard Power. "I wouldn't say it would be in the near future but like any company, we want to grow our business and develop our portfolio."
He said, however, that the company's immediate focus was on developing Garden Heaven, which currently has a circulation of between 8,000 to 10,000 copies per issue.
Part of this plan will be introducing the title to new readers by giving it away with the next issue of Image Interiors. Power said that this move made sense because the titles were a "good "t".
"Garden Heaven is like an Image Exteriors and Image Interiors would have a wide circulation among people who would be interested in gardening, " he said.
But Power said that there were no plans to rename the title to take advantage of the Image branding used by all the company's other publications.
"I think it's a strong enough product to stand on its own. We would just resource it in terms of distribution and advertising sales."
