THE publishers of a new book which alleges that a government minister spoke candidly to the author about his or her cocaine use have refused to release the transcript of the alleged interview to prove its authenticity.
Gill & Macmillan says it has possession of many taped interviews author Justine Delaney Wilson said she carried out with numerous subjects who spoke about their drug-use in her book, The High Society: Drugs And The Irish Middle Class. The book includes taped interviews with a parish priest, a Dublin judge, numerous doctors, and a government minister.
"We have possession of the tapes but are not in a position to release a transcript of any of the tapes, " a spokeswoman told the Sunday Tribune. "The author has certain rights in relation to anonymity of sources and we continue to stand over the book."
