AIB LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
UL BOHEMIAN 19
LANSDOWNE 6 ULBowl
A SMASHING individual try from Munster centre Barry Murphy in the 73rd minute inspired UL Bohemian to a hard-earned 19-6 victory over a plucky Lansdowne side at the UL Bowl yesterday.
Murphy showed his undoubted class when measuring his fly-kick ahead to perfection and beating the retreating Lansdowne defence to the touchdown.
The try, which helped the Limerick side into a 14-6 lead, was a hammer blow to Lansdowne who had been camped inside the UL Bohemian '22 for much of the preceding 10 minutes. The margin of UL Bohs' victory then grew even more flattering in stoppage time when flanker John Ed O'Connor barged his way over the visitors' try line.
Lansdowne will have felt that their gritty performance merited a losing bonus point.
After all, the Dublin side had trailed by just 9-6 until Murphy's try. Left winger Robbie Dolan converted two penalties for Lansdowne, while UL Bohemian out-half Fergal Lawlor landed two successful kicks for the home side.
