AIB LEAGUE DIVISION ONE UCD 23 DUNGANNON 13 Belfield UCD recorded their first win of the new season with a convincing victory over Ulster side Dungannon at the Belfield Bowl yesterday. The hosts opened the scoring after six minutes when centre Killian Lett landed the first of his two penalties. Three minutes later the visitors equalised when full back John McGuckin posted the first of his two penalties. Then on 15 minutes the home side bagged the first of their three tries when centre Andy Cummiskey went over, converted by Lett. On 29 minutes Lett posted his second penalty leaving the half time score at 13-3 in favour of UCD.
Two minutes after the break, UCD grabbed their second try when tighthead prop Conor Mitchell went over, Lett missing the conversion. Then six minutes later McGuckin landed his second penalty to close the gap. However, on 50 minutes UCD netted their third try when full back Michael Twomey went over. Four minutes later the visitors got their only try when scrumhalf James Bates peeled off the side of a ruck and went over, converted by McGuckin.
