AIB LEAGUE DIVISION ONE
GALWEGIANS 25
BALLYMENA 18 Crowley Park
GALWEGIANS had four players sin-binned . . . and had just 12 on the field at one stage . . . but still managed to score their first ever AIB League win in meetings against Ballymena. Galwegians led 15-8 at the interval and extended their lead 12 minutes after the restart with another Peter Durcan penalty to lead by 10 before props Brian McGovern and James Stephens were binned within a minute of each other for killing the ball.
But it was not until scrumhalf Tom Tierney joined them in the bin that Ballymena made their numerical advantage count with a converted try from Michael Harshaw.
However, Galwegians sealed a deserved win before they were restored to 15 men when Conor Muldoon scored from a pushover effort. First half tries for Galwegians came from his brother Ivan and McGovern.
That cancelled a try in the right corner from Ballymena scrum-half David Drake after six minutes.
