a) The web browser rocks. It's a version of Safari apparently. . .

Most sites look as one would expect.

b) A five-megapixel camera, wow. That's about all I can say.

This small little device that weighs a lot less and is physically smaller than the N91 has one of the best cameras in the phone market. . . The up/down volume buttons are for zooming, then there's a gallery button and the all-important photo snap button and you can do this while the phone is on its side which allows you to make use of the large 2.6" (240 x 320) screen.

c) Miscellaneous features including Wi" which works very well; bluetooth which seems quite compatible with tonnes of devices including car kits etc; 3G support which works very nicely; MMS and text message support etc.

d) Digital music player . . . supports MP3/ AAC/ AAC+/ eAAC+/ WMA/ M4A with playlists and equaliser.

f) It takes those new mini-SD cards that are super small g) It has GPS, which works well.

e) It's mighty pretty.

Faults:

Overall this is a fantastic phone, but the battery life is pretty poor. Just in case anyone asks, I've 3G off most of the time along with bluetooth, Wifi scanning etc.

About one day of use is all I'm getting. This makes me not want it. But all the other cool features save it for me. It's a deadly phone. Get one.

You can even click on them and it will call the place for you. I have found the GPS dif"cult to connect at times, however, and you can forget using it indoors. Moreover, you can still use the simulation feature and that will allow you to plan trips, be it by foot or via car. Oh, and a tip: you can get the maps for free on the internet, rather than pay for the feature. Usually the maps do not come pre-loaded on the phone.

Forget the high data costs . . .find a Wifi hotspot and surf for free. You can download your email using the software on the phone and can even open Word and Excel documents . . . simply amazing. This phone is of course also 3G, meaning high download speeds and video calling (if enabled by the network).

The quality of the photos from the five-megapixel camera is simply amazing and crisp. You can also use it as a movie camera. There is even a little shutter on the camera which keeps the lens clean. Finally, you can rotate the phone sideways to watch or listen to your music or the radio, and the keyboard slips the opposite direction, giving access to the MP3 music buttons.

Forget the iPhone, this is the next generation in mobile technology. Even when I picked it up and was impressed that it was much lighter than you'd imagine, I didn't like the cluttered interface on start-up.

Then I started using the device and things changed.

It has a camera and video camera, but one that's really powerful. Five megapixels mean you've got a full-blown digital camera with you. This also does video of course, ideal for making quick video diaries and uploading to Facebook.

Connectivity-wise it uses 3G, Wifi and bluetooth. I've already said that mobile broadband using 3G is a gamechanging piece of technology and having 3G in a phone like this helps in changing your digital lifestyle. Then add Wifi on top of that. Many companies have wireless networks and almost every home with broadband also has Wifi. Potential competition from other providers means that we could be able to access thousands of wireless hotspots around Ireland for free. As a business person, 3G and Wifi will change how you do business, and as a consumer it will immerse you more in the always-online lifestyle.

Something I never thought useful is what has turned me into a fan of this phone. I appreciate satellite navigation for the first time. Walking around a town as a dot on a map moving about is both childishly entertaining and very useful.

As someone who doesn't live in Dublin but finds himself there a lot, this has made arranging meetings a lot easier.

Lastly, this phone allows you to install applications, just like a computer, download them over Wifi or 3G, install them and make the phone even more productive or even more of an entertainment system. For me it was installing applications that allowed me to connect over the web with some of my phone contacts and see whether they were in the of"ce or at home or travelling.

There are, of course, negative points with this. The cluttered interface, as I mentioned, could really be made a little simpler and there are far too many buttons on this phone. It's the Forty Coats of phones as a result. Also, this 'computer in your pocket' is too big for my pockets, though not massively too big. The big issue is battery life. It sucks the juice far too quickly, especially if using Wifi and 3G. The design isn't as sexy as other phones but it destroys the competition on features.

While the iPhone has the hype, it won't change your life the way the Wifi and 3G phone can. The N95 is the next step in mobile communications and is highly recommended.
