CHRISTMAS drinks at the Shelbourne are a Dublin tradition, but the management of the newly refurbished luxury hotel are celebrating a bit early this year. Last week General Manager Liam Doyle and staff took top trumps at the Hospitality Ireland awards, winning Best Overall Hotel in Ireland and Best Cocktail Bar for its restored L-shaped Victorian No 27 bar.
While we cannot vouch for the No 27's "Peachitini" cocktail, its wine list and classic cocktails of Mojitos and Black Velvets are not to be missed. And they certainly are in the running for best martini on offer in Dublin.
They also quite possibly have the most expensive drink in town. The Royal Champagne Cocktail features Louis XIII cognac topped with Cristal. Well, each drink helps pay for the 83m makeover.
