A 34-ACRE site adjacent to the proposed new Metro West line is for sale by public tender and is expected to achieve in the region of 30m. The lands are located at Dubber Cross on St. Margarets Road just north of the M50 motorway. The proposed Metro West Meakstown stop is adjacent to the site which is one km south of the runway at Dublin airport. The new light rail system will connect Tallaght to Dublin Airport via Clondalkin, and Blanchardstown. The development of this line is currently at preferred route stage and it is proposed that the line will be operational by 2014.
The land for sale is close to the 100 acres Dublin Airport Logistic Park, home to DHL and Eason. The site is currently zoned objective RU "to protect and provide for the development of agricultural rural amenity" in the Fingal County Council Development Plan 2005-2011. However, most of the lands surrounding the site are either zoned residential, general industrial or distribution/warehouse.
"These lands represent a superb medium term development opportunity, " a spokesman for selling agents HT Meagher O'Reilly says.
"The fact that the majority of surrounding lands are zoned, along with the planned introduction of the Metro West route, would indicate there would be very good grounds to get the site re-zoned in the next Development Plan to allow for development on a major transport infrastructure."
The lands are for sale by public tender on Wednesday 21 November.
