BUY IT THIS WEEK
The latest edition to the Very Important Product range in Habitat is wallpaper by designers Matthew Williamson and Christian Lacroix and Dutch design guru Marcel Wanders.
Williamson's creations are particularly fabulous and not unlike his dresses . . . exotic, flamboyant and just that little bit decadent.
An entire room covered in it might just be overkill for delicate, minimalist design sensibilities but you could always try papering just one wall for dramatic effect. 45 per roll.
IT'S A STITCH-UP
Knitting is such a useful skill to have. Not only is it creative but it also keeps your hands out of the Pringles tin as you watch telly on nights in.
If you do knit, you could also do your bit for charity because Origins is donating 1 from the sale of every Ginger Essence Skin Scent (such a gorgeous perfume, by the way) to The Simon Communities of Ireland . . . look out for the bottles in Arnotts, Clerys and House of Fraser with their cute, hand-knitted scarves from 1 December onwards.
What Origins would like knitters to do is grab their needles, choose a wool (either red, green or gold and the brighter the better) and start by stitching across by four and then knitting 40 rows down. Make your scarf distinctive with glitter or tassels or patterns, then pop it in the post and send it to: Origins Ginger Knits, 73 Grosvenor Street, London, W1K 3BQ, no later than 20 November.
HOW TO EXCESSORISE
If you favour a subtle look, stop reading now.
The Roberto Cavalli look is so full-on, you could describe it as 'Bet Lynch and Bianca Jagger having a Europop dance-off on a yacht in Portofino'. Or words to that effect.
Following in the footsteps of Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and Viktor and Rolf, he's the latest designer to collaborate with H&M and it's gold lame, leopard print, tight white trousers and fringed leather jackets all the way, b aby.
Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize Theron and Beyonce are all fans so it's a good opportunity to snaffle up some Cavalli sexiness at an affordable price . . . no doubt you'll be seeing them for sale on ebay for twice the amount in the coming weeks. Granted it's not for everyone . . . you need to be in a certain frame of mind to don a chiffon, zebra-print baby doll dress . . . but for the less daring, the snakeskin bracelets and gold mary-jane shoes are glam without being OTT. Actually, it's quite Rachel Zoe (see page 14) now that we think about it.
The collection comes to H&M this Thursday.
