The new James Bond visited the Blue Lion, in East Witton, near Leyburn, on Christmas Eve and New Year's Day.

Craig Turner, manager of the Blue Lion, said: "I wouldn't say he's a regular but he's been in a number of times.

He's a really nice guy and good compa-ny. He told me to go and see Casino Royale, which I did."

The actor was in the region as a guest of art dealer Jay Jopling, who has a house in North Yorkshire.

The actor is not the first famous per-son to be spotted in the restaurant.

Kate Winslet used to be a regular.
