TRI-ING TO BEAT CANCER
Model Natasha Byram was one of over 250 athletes who took part in the most successful ever Tri-to-beat-Cancer triathlon in Skerries yesterday. Runners, swimmers and cyclists from all over Ireland came out in force to raise over .100,000 for cancer research at St Vincent's hospital. The fundraiser was organised by Anne Burns, who set up Tri-To-Beat-Cancer two years ago. The charity has already raised over .300,000 and has a number of loyal sponsors such as Roche and GE Capital. Among the athletes yesterday were Dr John Crown and Dr David Fennely of St Vincent's. A number of cancer patients also took part. "This is what greatness in life is all about, " Anne Burns said, "Anybody who comes out to raise money for such a worthy cause deserves enormous praise." The winner of the women's event was Irene Walsh, while Aidan Murphy (16), won the men's race in 1 hr 2 mins. The team event was won by three nurses from St Vincent's
