DUBLIN Lord Mayor Royston Brady will address Dublin City Council tomorrow evening to "set the record straight" and explain his recent outburst against fellow councillors whom he recently described as "clowns" and a "waste of space".
It is understood Brady will tell the council that comments made about the use of the mayoral carriage for his recent wedding had devastated his wife, reducing her to tears and that this had prompted his angry outburst.
While Brady will not be apologising for his remarks, it is believed he will be stressing the need to move on from the incident. He will state that he and his wife paid for everything at their wedding. Dublin City Council is anxious to have the mayoral carriage used on a regular basis and the wedding of the Lord Mayor was a perfect showcase for the carriage, Brady will state.
"Royston will state his case and get on with it. He has broad shoulders and will argue with anyone over politics. But he got very upset when it involved his personal life. It really got to him, " a friend said this weekend.
