Mansfield's firm posts €16m profit
HSS, the principal holding company for the assets and businesses of controversial property developer Jim Mansfield, posted pre-tax profits of nearly 16m in the year to March last, according to the accounts recently filed in the Companies Office. HSS, which includes the Citywest Hotel in Dublin, more than doubled turnover to 56m in the year.

The company turnover includes sales of land and other property, as well as the trading activities of the hugely successful Citywest complex. The accounts show that Mansfield's sons, Anthony, James and Patrick, bought land and property worth 7.2m from HSS in the year.

Last week, Mansfield filed a new application for his 6,000seat convention centre in Citywest. That was lodged following South Dublin Co Council's decision in November to rezone the site to permit a convention centre. The centre was half-built when An Bord Pleanala refused permission on the basis that it should have been in a commercial centre.

The accounts show that Mansfield put another 1m into the Citywest Hotel in the year.
