Musician Jim Corr has declared his interest in running for political office as an independent candidate in order to ensure Ireland does not become part of a European federal state.

In an interview with the Sunday Tribune, the Corrs guitarist said he was "overwhelmed" by the recent public support he received after claiming that rogue elements of the Bush administration were responsible for the 9/11 attacks. The 43-year-old was a prominent voice in the 'no' camp during the recent Lisbon treaty campaign.

He claims the Irish government contains a number of Freemasons and that there is a worldwide conspiracy to microchip people so governments can control and manipulate citizens.
