Jonathan Rhys Myers in previous hit series 'The Tudors': producer Morgan O'Sullivan plans to shoot 'Camelot' at Ardmore Studios in Bray

Veteran film producer Morgan O'Sullivan will cast the main roles for his latest drama series, 'Camelot', this week, after getting the green light from US cable network Starz.

The €47m production, backed partly by finance raised through the Section 481 tax incentive scheme, is expected to bring as much as €20m into the Irish economy this year.

The first season of 10 episodes will begin shooting in June at Ardmore Studios in Bray, where O'Sullivan's World 2000 Entertainment production company is located. Up to 400 cast and crew will be employed on the project.

O'Sullivan produced all four seasons of the highly successful series 'The Tudors', starring Jonathan Rhys Myers, for US cable channel Showtime. 'Tudors' creator Michael Hirst is leading the artistic side of 'Camelot' as well.

Former arts minister Martin Cullen said adjustments to the Section 481 scheme in the last budget had helped secure the deal for the new show.
